Senior ISIS leader arrested in Syria
Stockholm, December 25 (Hibya) - According to a report by the state news agency Sana, a senior ISIS leader has been arrested in Syria.
ISIS leader Taha al-Zoubi, also known as Abu Omar Tabiya, was arrested on Wednesday in the Damascus area.
The arrest was carried out with the help of a US-led international coalition.
A Syrian military official stated, "Our specialized units, in cooperation with intelligence services and the international coalition force, carried out a precise operation against one of the places where ISIS was hiding."
Last week, the US military carried out more than 70 airstrikes on various ISIS-linked targets in Syria. President Donald Trump described the attacks as "revenge" after three Americans were killed in an attack suspected to be carried out by ISIS in early December.
