Von der Leyen expresses support for Greenland and Denmark
Brussels, January 19 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, following meetings with European leaders, conveyed a message of determination to protect the sovereignty of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark.
In a statement shared on her social media account, European Commission President von der Leyen said: “I met with the NATO Secretary General, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Together, we are determined to protect the sovereignty of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark.”
Von der Leyen also stated, “We will always protect our strategic economic and security interests,” reiterating the message of transatlantic solidarity and commitment to international law.
